Sibambe station
The Sibambe station is the lower terminus of the Devil’s Nose, in Chimborazo, at 1,820 m above sea level, right at the foot of the famous zigzag. Together with Alausí it forms the only operating section of Tren Ecuador and was also a stop on the Tren Crucero. The train descends almost 500 m down the rock wall to reach here.
In Sibambe, the communities welcome visitors with traditional dance, coffee and handicrafts. The station houses the Cóndor Puñuna museum (“condor’s nest”), a café and stalls of local products run by the community itself. It is a vibrant finale to the country’s most famous railway experience.
