Durán station

The Eloy Alfaro de Durán station is the coastal terminus of the Trans-Andean Railway, in the Durán canton (Guayas), at just 4 m above sea level, across from Guayaquil over the Guayas river. It is the southern terminus of the Tren Crucero and the terminus of the Train of Sweetness. Historically it was the great railway hub of the coast, where the train connected with the port of Guayaquil.

The station has workshops, platforms and historic locomotives that recall Durán’s central role in the network. From here you can easily cross to Guayaquil, with its famous Malecón 2000, the bohemian neighbourhood of Las Peñas and the Santa Ana hill. It is the point where the train’s journey meets the sea and the great Pacific port.
