Huigra station

The Huigra station is in the parish of Huigra, Alausí canton, Chimborazo province, at 1,255 m above sea level, on the descent of the Tren Crucero towards the coast. Huigra was one of the most important railway centres on the line: work crews, engineers and drivers lived here during the construction and operation of the railway.

With a temperate, subtropical climate, the town preserves a pleasant central park, houses from the railway era and a quiet atmosphere among the mountains. It is tied to the memory of the engineer and the thousands of workers who made the railway to the coast possible. It is a refreshing pause after the cold of the páramos.
