Ambato station

The Ambato station sits in the capital of Tungurahua, at 2,577 m above sea level. It is a stop on the Tren Crucero and a departure point for the Ice Train on its variant towards Cevallos. Ambato, known as “the city of flowers and fruit”, is an important commercial and agricultural hub in the centre of the country.

Its great celebration is the Festival of Flowers and Fruit, which each February fills the city with floats. Ambato was the birthplace of the writer Juan Montalvo, whose country house and mausoleum can be visited. From here you can quickly reach Baños de Agua Santa, the capital of Andean adventure.
